Since childhood I wanted to be an
architect. I took the usual road, endless hours playing with Lego, I enjoyed drawing, often sketched house plans, imaginary palaces, even airplanes, or
completely implausible cities, reinterpretations of the spaces...
In all mediums of design the process is
essentially the same, there is a problem to be solved and the designer, artist,
architect or engineer uses their skills to solve that problem.
This is what makes design feel like such an accomplishment, the ability to help people solve real problems.
When I imagine from scratch an object or a building and see it appear, is like witnessing the realization of a dream, the product from my (often delusional) imagination.
What about you? Were you lucky enough to choose the career you always wanted to pursue or did you have to change your path on your way? If you could, would you change your decision now?
Although the real question should be: do you love what you do?
Big hugs!
¡Abrazos!

I'd wonder why the designer made the decisions they made and how I would have done it differently.

The most successful designs go through this

ReplyDeleteI love your creativity and it shows through your beautiful blog! I think women (in general) are creative beings with an amazing ability to think out of the box .. With lots if color! Men sometimes seem more black and white .. Kinda like the dog and the butterfly :)

By reading your blog, I think it is so evident that you are incredibly creative. I'm pretty lucky that I really like what I do also. I truly think that if I didn't love my job and what I spend most of my days doing, then I would not be as happy in life as I am.

So glad that you get to do what you love everyday. So many people grudgingly get up and go to a job they hate day after day just to pay the bills. I agree, the design process is very cool indeed! xo
ReplyDeleteYes! gimme gimme :) I love that facade. So wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWhat an inspirational post!! I love all of your photos. Right now, I'm in the process of making a career switch because i learned to not follow what others expect of me..took me almost 27 years to figure that one out lol! But now, I'm taking each day to listen to my heart more closely.

ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful how you found your path so early in life Inés. And it sounds like you definitely love the creative process in all it's forms. Your creativity shows through in your posts for sure :) It took me awhile to find my way to photography but I'm glad I found it again.

Wow...what a wonderful post! So honest and inspiring! Congrats on your achievements :) I've been through a deep self-discovering path...Well, it's still a work in progress. Finished Law School and a few years later, decided to study Communications, and I've been working in Advertising for the past 6 years. I've learned to appreciate how lucky I am for having the opportunity of trying different fields...Besos!
ReplyDeleteBest post EVER, Ines! This resonates with me since I went to school for interior design and followed art for now. The other day I was talking about space planning tied with psychology with a friend, and it made me miss interior design. I am in LOVE with art, though. Who knows what I'll decide to do in ten years. I bet your designs are wonderful! :)
ReplyDeleteI love everything that involve with design too!!! Seeing these pictures definitely help inspire more creativity :)

I'm back from my trip and enjoying catching up on my favourite blogs which includes yours, of course!! What a wonderful post - gorgeous images, as usual and food for thought too. I've found that having a blog has been one of the best ways to explore different topics and look at everyday objects more creatively.
