It's so cool how one second it's just a humid day and all of a sudden the sky goes pitch black out of nowhere, and the rain falls down like there are a million of fire hoses going off, the thunder rolls in sooooo loud it beats the crap out of any firework display. then the lightning can be seen and the wind picks up and shoots in the windows, I find it soooo romantic...I don't mind the power going out, I just sit at the window and watch...
Es tan genial como un segundo es sólo un día húmedo y, de repente, el cielo se pone completamente negro de la nada, y la lluvia cae como si hubiera un millón de mangueras contra incendio encendidas, el trueno suena en taaaaan fuerte que supera a cualquier espectáculo pirotécnico. Y entonces un relámpago puede verse y se levanta viento y golpea en las ventanas, y a mí me parece taaaan romántico...No me importa que se corte la energía, me siento junto a la ventana y miro...

Like how every street, car, traffic, and neon light is doubled by its reflection on the wet street, resembling Christmas any time of the year...
Por ejemplo, cómo cada calle, luz del coche, de tráfico, o de neón se duplica por su reflejo en la calle mojada, recordándome la Navidad en cualquier época del año...

Or the soft empathy people show for those who are caught without protection under the sky’s down pour; a sympathetic look, an invitation for a spot under their umbrella or raincoat...

O la tierna empatía, que la gente muestra para los que se ven atrapados sin protección bajo un cielo que se derrama, o una mirada simpática, o una invitación a compartir un lugar bajo un paraguas, o impermeable...

Umbrellas!...big ones, small ones...

Los paraguas!...Los grandes, los pequeños...

Transparent ones or bright and colorful ones...
Los transparentes o los brillantes y coloridos...

All kind of covers and other creative protections...
Todos los tipos de cubiertas y demás protecciones creativas...

Like rain hats, coats, coats or raincoats...

Como los sombreros, chaquetas, capas o impermeables...

Rain boots...and yep,"stylish" boxes!

Botas de lluvia...Y síp, "elegantes" ¡cajas!

Or no protections at all...and the feeling of rain on my face and my hair getting drenched...

O ninguna protección en absoluto...y la sensación de la lluvia sobre mi cara y de mi pelo empapándose...

La vida no se trata de esperar a que la tormenta pase. Se trata de aprender a bailar bajo la lluvia.

Puddles, lots of puddles...to get a different points of view...or to play "dirty" and get soaked!
Los charcos, muchos charcos...para tener puntos de vista diferentes...o para jugar "sucio" y terminar empapada!

Races under the rain or rain drop races on window panes...

Las carreras bajo la lluvia o las carreras de gotas de lluvia sobre los vidrios de las ventanas...

Todos quieren felicidad, nadie quiere dolor, pero no puedes tener un arcoiris sin un poco de lluvia

And some more...the smell of stone that on dry days I can’t smell without holding my nose right against it, and how the sidewalks empty out leaving me to stand alone on the world’s stage so I can dance and sing in the rain...enjoying the spotlight without a human audience at least for a little while... (no pictures here, nooo, no!)
Y algo más...el olor de la piedra, que en días secos no puedo sentir sin poner mi nariz directamente encima, y cómo las veredas se vacían dejándome estar sola sobre el escenario del mundo para que pueda bailar y cantar bajo la lluvia...disfrutando el foco de atención sin una audiencia humana, por lo menos por un rato...(no hay fotos aquí, ¡nooo, no!)

Today is the birthday of my beautiful daughter, Ana...and I have the usual problem of deciding what to give her. I know she might enjoy many things: books, games, books, clothes, did I say books?
But I’m selfish. I want to give her something different, I want to give her a gift that might remind her of me every time the sky turns grey.
Hoy es el cumpleaños de mi preciosa hija, Ana...y yo tengo el típico problema para decidir qué regalarle. Yo sé que ella podría disfrutar muchas cosas: libros, juegos, libros, ropa, ¿dije libros?
Pero yo soy egoísta. Y quiero regalarle algo distinto, quiero darle un regalo que la haga pensar en mí cada vez que el cielo se torne gris.

So, I'm going to give Ana one of her favorite things in this world, I'll give her the rain...

This one is to you, my grown up girl...
Así que, voy a darle a mi Ana una de sus cosas preferidas de este mundo, yo voy a darle la lluvia...
Éste es para ti, mi nena grande...
