Classy Green...

...Vert, Grønn, Zelen, Grün, 绿色, πράσινος, Verde...

For those of you who want to cool off and forget the summer for a while, and for those of us that want to enjoy the GREEN early spring to come ...

There is a different shade of green in each season:  spring green, bright and fresh as new growth; summer green, grass and trees and gardens in full swing; autumn green, the deeper tones of moss and forest; green winter, the bleached out, toned down quiet of grey greens.

The Standard. Meatpacking District. New York.

One of the most versatile colors, GREEN can be happy and bright or grim and dim, or rich and enveloping.  It's the predominant color in nature, green's many shades are so adaptable that work with every color under the sun.

Keep seasons in mind when choosing a green colored clothing piece. Darker greens look best during Fall and Winter...

Mr. Cool

...Light and "fresh" greens are best for sunny days.

Although, darker greens like forest green or bottle green are perceived as more masculine, every shade of green has true coordination potential and is very original, so you can literally throw it on and go without worry!.

Eye Shadow Pro Palette. Bitter Vivid Green with Shimmer(Velvet). M.A.C.

Green eye shadow is stunning on both brown and green eyes. Unless you have the face and age of the model above, to make this style work, the key is MODESTY. Try putting on the green eye shadow first and then going over it with a rich brown. Then, at the height of your brow, put a shimmery metallic finish that’s so fashionable this season. This helps keep your make up modest and beautiful, while still letting a little green shine through.

A great way to incorporate green into your wardrobe is using the power of accessories. A simple pair of green shoes (Ok, may be not so simple!) can be an easy way to add the trend into your wardrobe...

...or maybe these bright green purses above...definitely head-turners!...

In architecture: there are green buildings...

Green is one of the most versatile colors in a designer’s palette. Emerald, jade, apple or any of those brighter, livelier greens will work well in contemporary spaces or when decorating for a trendy, youthful look.

They also work very well as accent colors and will add a spark of energy and youth to a room.

Use small doses of bright green in an otherwise quietly colored room for a little zest...

Darker green glass accessories would also work well mixing them with high-intensity colors of lime, chartreuse and acid green details, to enliven even the most dull room.

The Water Lily Pond. Claude Monet. 1899

Green is the color of nature, fertility, life. Grass green is the most restful color...it inspired and inspires photographers, musics, poets, and artists all over the world...
"Nature won't be summoned to order and won't be kept waiting. It must be caught, well caught." Claude Monet
Claude Monet

And nature must be enjoyed, whenever you are in the last days of Summer, or on the warmer last days of Winter...

When I think of green, I think about... whispers of rustling leaves, fresh blades of dewy grass, breathlessly sunny mornings, strolls through the greenest gardens and the sound of singing birds, followed by serene naps under a breezy foliage...

... languorous picnic luncheons in a fresh green background on favorite linens...And as day falls to night, romantic layered tables , topped with green herbs, baby arugula, tender asparagus...

...suculent avocados, aromatic limes, and "mojito" or better, "pisco sour"...
...suculentas paltas, aromáticas limas, y "mojito" o mejor, "pisco sour"...

...Chairs awaiting company, laughter and lively conversation that spills into the starlit night...and then the return to home in a glamorous convertible, of course!...

As you may have noticed the theme of these recent posts have been about color, weather, mood, and why not?...
After all, seasons change. So do moods. New things come into our life and others go. But it's comforting to know the ones we prefer will always come back...

So tell me: What season do you prefer?

Big hugs!
¡Abrazos!

Inés

  2. Well, I lived in Miami for the last 8 years, so I can barely remember how the change of seasons used to affect me. The arrival of Spring is always pretty magical...As for the green, I like it more in food than in clothes, but it is a powerful color! Muchos besos guapísima!

  6. Ines, this is fabulous! I'm loving your posts on color and you always seem to be right on target! Green is probably my favorite color…although I've also been dying for some fabulous outfits in turquoise for some reason! Almost every room in my house incorporates green…except for my bedroom, because I'm always trying to bring the outdoors in! These pictures are amazing and I can't wait for fall and see what is ahead for us in shades of green! Luckily, it goes well with my eyes! LOL! By the way, the Claude Monet picture simply makes me long for France and wish I was back touring his fabulous home and gardens again! Thanks for sharing this lovely post! Have a great week!

  25. Ines, I love the way you describe green, especially when you said it makes you think of "whispers of rustling leaves' and "fresh blades of dewy grass."

I used to say that summer was my favorite, but now I'm not so sure after an hour's worth of yard work! Just kidding, I still love summer. BUT I really am in love with Spring now that I've moved to a more humid climate.
